Rocky

Meet Rocky, our resident pup at CoDa Canine since March of 2023 – he’s the one who’s been with us the longest! This sweet fella is estimated to be a 2 to 3 year old American Pit Bull Terrier mix. If you’re on the lookout for a furry friend who’s up for some fun and adventure, Rocky is your guy!

During his time with us, Rocky has become a pro in training. He’s mastered both on leash and off leash obedience, nailed down some cool tricks, and even tried his paw at activities like nosework, dock diving, and competitive obedience. Despite all his hard work, Rocky still knows how to relax and settle down when he comes inside – he’s the whole package!

Rocky is friendly and sociable with both people and children, as well as being well-behaved around other dogs. He is reliably crate and house trained, and has actively participated in helping us with numerous private lessons both on and off the premises. It is important to note that he does not interact well with cats.

Maybelline aka Mabel

Maybelline has been with us since August of 2023. We’ve guest that she is around 2-3 years old and is an American Pit Bull Terrier mix. This sweet gal is a big fan of cuddles, but don’t be fooled – she can switch gears in an instant and be ready to play!

Found on the side of the road incredibly malnourished and eating a deceased cow, she was picked up by a Rescue and once she was healthy she was sent to CoDa Canine Obedience to learn some manners! Since being here she’s learned on-leash and off-leash obedience as well as proper dog socialization.

Mabel is a social butterfly when it comes to meeting new people – she loves making new friends, and she loves to play with other dogs but preferably male dogs! She’s great with her crate and house training. Just a heads up, Mabel is not a fan of cats so she would do best in a cat-free home.

She’s a strong pup who thrives when she has a confident owner to guide her. Without that leadership and guidance, she may attempt to take charge herself.

Ellie

Meet sweet Ellie! We pulled her from the Red Oak Animal Shelter in October of 2023. This adorable pup is estimated to be around 3-4 years old and is an American Pit Bull Terrier mix. Ellie has the best of both worlds – she loves cuddles from anyone but is also pretty self-sufficient and not overly demanding!

The Red Oak Animal Control Officer found Ellie and her adorable 12-week-old pup, Mitch, hanging out by the local 7/11. They brought them to the shelter, but luckily Ellie and her son got their tickets to freedom! Now she’s getting all sorts of training to become the best companion. From walking nicely on a leash to coming when called, and even learning to relax in busy places – Ellie is soaking up all the new skills like a sponge! It’s an exciting journey for her, and we can’t wait to see her blossom into a wonderful companion for someone.

Ellie is truly as sweet as can be, possibly even sweeter! She absolutely adores being around people of all ages and is warming up to being around other dogs. However, she must be in a cat-free home. Ellie is already crate trained and house trained, and she simply loves being by your side.

Ed

Say hello to Ed, also known as Edward! He’s a young Belgian Malinois on the smaller side, weighing about 40-50lbs. Ed is from Drowzy Dog Rescue.

When we first met Ed, he was very cautious around people. However, with some fun training sessions, he has really started to come out of his shell and show us the goofy guy he is. Ed is a sensitive guy who responds well to clear guidance and patience.
He loves playing with toys and enjoys a good game of fetch, but he’s not overly demanding about it. Sometimes he’s just happy to relax with a chew toy by himself.

Ed thrives on a consistent schedule or routine. He is not suitable for homes with children or small animals and can be selective with other dogs. Making tremendous progress in his training, the ideal adopter will need to continue his training and provide him with the understanding and care that he needs.

We are looking for a home that is experienced with the breed and familiar with their specific requirements. Ed is currently available for adoption through Drowzy Dawg Rescue. If you’re interested in meeting Ed, please contact us.

Hondo

This handsome fella is one big boy, tipping the scales at 92 pounds while still looking lean. Before coming to CoDa Canine, he was sadly abandoned in the backyard with two of his housemates. Thankfully, a kind neighbor spotted them and was able to rescue them before the weather turned freezing.

Here at CoDa Canine Obedience, we’re thrilled to see Hondo’s transformation! He used to be a bit aloof towards people, but now he’s really warming up and seeking guidance from those around him. Despite only being with us for a short time, he’s already making incredible strides in his training. From learning self-control around exciting things to walking politely on a leash and responding to his name, Hondo is really blossoming. While he may look intimidating, he’s actually a big love bug and a total goofball. We’re proud of his progress!

Since Hondo has been at CoDa Canine, we’re still getting to know him. He’s been doing well with crate training and seems to have a lot of fun playing with his toys when he’s out. At the moment, we think he would do best as the only dog in a home without cats. He has been great with everyone he’s met so far, including kids.
